two months ago, a very frustrated subu sent me a message straight out of his heart, that read
"what the hell is going on.. idea star singer, airtel super singer!!! next will be hutch..Bsnl won't, atleast..govt wont waste money on unnecessary things...man! music used to be a gift to a few blessed souls..and they were respected, but nowadays it appears to have become a basic qualification without which u r useless...music was once the solution to relieve tension, today it has become something that is created in a tension filled atmosphere!! da where is the world bloody headin to?"
this frustrated dude's desp-o-meter struck alarming levels at the realisation of an even more alarming reality.. yeah, music has sort of become a part of the regular everyday lexicon and the word doesn't really strike all the right chords in ur heart all the time.. just anybody can sing (i'd better use the word a li'l more carefully next time) after ages of training and practice...so whats the big deal in claiming that u can..er..sing too?...its plainer than the truth that u can talk, buddy...
its a compulsory hobby..if its not there on ur list, better add it right now or the world will shun u for eternity.. wondering what the ruckus and ballyhoo on the television is all about? its music all right, but it is delivered with emotions attached... the cameramen and audio effects personnel do one hell of a job in focussing on the instantaneous chemistry of a contestant who's music has been declared unworthy.. aww! how sweet of them to encourage the feeling of empathy in thousands of families that tune in to this rude, bullying non-sense of a depressing emotional show-biz.. why blame these guys anyway?...thats what they do in america, so its gotta be done here too.. sounds like truly fair logic huh?...its just like people here practise yoga and stuff because its such a prestige to be doing so if u r on the other side of the planet.. n when r u gonna get ur "Om" T-shirt?
no offence to contestants and aspirants who really know what music is all about.. its a whole another story of triumph if u win, but u r welcome to join the club if u too r slapped on stage in front of millions of people and spat on the face with the comment that u did not really "sing"

lolsy how very true:)......but the fact remains tht these shows r hits n dung headed ppl(including me:)) keep watching these shit...but even more pitiable is the fact tht they slap pathetic emotional stuff onto these otherwise mind numbingly boring singing competitions to move the audience, which they r singularly incapable of.n more intriguing is the fate of the so called winners after they hav won it all...n as for subbu ...ahh god save him:)
why do normal singing competitions have to be mind numbingly boring? its bcos u watch the program and find nothing that interests u... the audience, as u urself have indirectly implied, takes pleasure in watching the evaluation and remarks section more than the actual singing... u wudn't call it boring then wudja?... cos there's enough stuff to set u talking abt the boy/girl who sang, and not how he/she sang...
if great minds discuss ideas, here its music, and here most of these minds r definitely far from being great
if mediocre minds discuss only events, or worse, people, then thats really whats happening...thats "only" whats happening!
